Restore Your Smile
Dental Bridges In Lawrenceville, GA
Also serving Duluth, Norcross, Suwanee & Arbor Trace
In the real world, a bridge is what you travel on when you need to cross a gap such as a creek or a river. In the world of dentistry, bridges are used to fill in the gaps created by missing teeth. Visit Optima Dental if you have missing teeth so we can place dental bridges on them to restore the appearance and function of your teeth.
Why Replace Missing Teeth?
There are many good reasons why you need to replace the teeth you’ve lost. It becomes a need if the missing teeth are in front and you have gaps showing when you smile. These gaps can erode your self-confidence and can even cause you to stop smiling entirely, for fear of embarrassment.
Gaps in your teeth may also prevent you from chewing your food properly. They can also trigger speech impediments. Over time, the gap may cause the adjacent teeth to grow unevenly and your jaw bone may deteriorate as well.
Creating a Bridge
A bridge can be made to replace a missing tooth or several teeth in a row. These bridges can be made from a variety of materials, such as porcelain, gold, and other metal alloys so that they’re durable and strong.
Here in our clinic in Lawrenceville, Georgia, we start by checking your teeth to make sure that a bridge is indeed the appropriate solution for your missing teeth. We then start working on the adjacent teeth, which we will use to keep the bridge in place. We have to shape your adjacent teeth carefully so that they can function as the base of the bridge.
Once these adjustments have been made, we then make an impression of your teeth, which we will send to our laboratory. At the end of your first visit here, your dentist will let you wear a temporary bridge to protect the adjustments on the adjacent teeth and cover the exposed gums.
We use the impression we made to create a bridge that will fit your mouth perfectly and which will feel as natural as possible. The bridge is made of two crowns at the end, plus the replacement teeth in the middle.
On your next visit to our clinic, we will place the new bridge to replace your missing teeth. A dental adhesive will be added to keep it in place.
For a few days, the new bridge may feel a bit strange to you, especially when you’ve grown used to the gap. But after a short time, it should feel more natural again. At the beginning, we recommend that you eat soft foods while you get used to the sensation, but before you know it, you’ll be eating normally with no problem at all.
If you have a missing tooth or two, call us at (770) 962-4322 so we can examine your teeth and determine if a bridge can be used to replace your missing teeth. By visiting Optima Dental, you can once again have a great-looking smile and restored functions for your teeth. Contact us now!
